I've heard a very similar telling of this story before I appreciate the message in this story to be happy with who/where/what you are. We are each powerful in our own way and shouldn't wish to be someone or something else as Sivu the stonemason does.ming a businessman, then the mayor, then the sun, rain, wind and rock/mountainen realizing that even though a rock is strong a stonemason can carve it. I an not sure if the story ends with him being a stonemasson again or if he is a stone. Still, this book has wonderful [...]

A modern version of 'The Stone Cutter'. This folk tale follows a stonemason who becomes disenchanted with his life. Through his greed and jealousy, he is transformed into ever more powerful beings- until, he comes to realize the power he already possessed.

A retelling of the Taoist story The Stone Cutter for young readers. An excellent story for discussing themes of power and wealth, contentment, desire, and more.

A classic Taoist fable. The illustrations set it firmly in the present, which emphasizes its relevance. I'm planning to read it aloud for my library's telephone storyline next month!
