I agree with some of the reviews on here that the book drags a bit in the middle when it references the 40s,50s of Burts life bit it didn't put me off this book one bit. The blokes life story is amazing, some of the things he achieved from just being a nice person is unbelievable. if you like true books this one is a must, Tim goes into great detail about the people and the places and the research must have been phenomenal to produce this book. I was initially put off by it as I'm not a big fan [...]

Couldn't finish it. While I thought there was much fine, detailed biography writing occurring throughout the story, the very traits that make Munro a national figure - his tenacity, his stalwart sense of self - mired the book in a sense of stasis by its middle passages. Hats off to Hanna for what was clearly a labor of love, but I couldn't connect to it.

Perhaps not the best-presented or proof-read book, but Tim Hanna sure spun a lovely story. I really enjoyed this book and was glad that it was nothing like the film. I have a very limited understanding of motorcycles, but still managed to keep up with the details of this well-written story. Also thanks Tim for not dressing Burt up too much.

Good book especially if you are a motorhead, which I am not, but I managed to get through that and learn the amazing story of Burt/Bert Munro. It did somewhat drag towards the middle but picked up a finished nicely. My favorite part of the book was the adventure with the Nash.
