I've been a fan of Ms. Rentschler's writing since I first read Paper Bones. Her descriptive writing pulls the reader into her poems ensuring the reader feels the turmoil, anger and disillusionment over the world's issues. She artfully weaves in relevant quotes and poetry of days gone by at the beginning of each section, Prologue, Terrorism, Abuse, Politics, Nature and Epilogue for Tomorrow. I found favorite poems in every section. "Immigrant" speaks to settlers that escaped killings to just to f [...]

In her latest volume of poetry, The Book of Now, Sherry Rentschler puts the horrors of life in the 21st century into words that are brutal and in your face. Rentschler uses Pandora as a metaphor for the ugliness and evil that is unleashed and uncontrolled and is the NOW that so many of us are living in. It is difficult and painful reading. One can easily visualize the flying, crawling, ravenous critters that came pouring out of Pandora's Box because we are seeing it, reading about it, living in [...]

***I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review***This is unlike any other book of poetry I have read. There is so many horrible things that we are doing to each other and our world and these poems challenge the reader to face the harsh realities of our time. The images and play on words draw in the reader right away. These passionate poems strive to challenge the reader to find "the key" in four areas; terrorism, politics, abuse, and nature. Rentschler's collection of soci [...]
