I absolutely loved this book. It was exciting and fast paced The story and characters grabbed me right from the beginning. It was not overly technical but clearly showed the author's knowledge of legal proceedings. I didn't put the book down until I was finished at 2am. Looking forward to reading the second book in the series. I am a fan, Michael Burton.

Very good début novel by author Michael Burton and I could have easily marked it higher. Good character development and a well thought out plot that makes good reading. A very promising start and I will look out for the follow up novel 'Educating Justice'.

Ryan Croker is a new lawyer who opens his own practice since most legal firms are laying off employees or closing their doors so he can't get a job anywhere. He doesn't get many cases so takes anything that comes along. He gets a case that nobody else will take and believes he will lose, especially when he sees he is trying it against a very successful lawyer.I really liked this well written legal mystery. It was very fast paced so I had to focus on the story so I didn't miss anything. At times [...]

I enjoyed this book for the most part. It had a good, interesting story with enough plot twists to keep you reading and wanting to know how it was going to turn out. I liked Ryan as a character and I'm glad we get to read about him again. There were a couple thing prevented me from giving this more stars. There were a lot of typos; misspelled words, punctuation errors, etc.at distracted me a little bit. The biggest issue I had with this novel was a lot of petty details that had no merit to the s [...]

A great book. Superb story with some of the best characterisation in any book I have read in the past few years. I highly recommend this book

Two stars because somewhere in those 140 pages there were some good story bones. The premise, the set up and even the who, what, where, when were if maybe a little predictable, still decent possible story. The problem is that all that was covered up with tedious, banal, unnecessary details and comments and plenty of grammatical issues. There were parts felt like they were written for a law school text book. I read my fair share of legal thrillers. I don't need legal terms explained to me ad naus [...]

This was a relatively short novel with an engaging plot and I was able to read it rather quickly. I rated it 3 stars for two principal reasons: (1) The editing on this book was shoddy and I am being charitable. There were numerous incomplete sentences, incorrect grammar, stray/wrong words, and other distracting problems with the text. It seems unlikely that it could have been proofread by someone literate and paying any attention whatsoever. I borrowed this book via Prime Lender, but had I shel [...]

Great debut legal thriller/mystery by Michael Burton. What I really enjoyed was the different type of legal thriller. It wasn't your typical murder mystery and trial scenes. It brought in several different areas of the law that were tied nicely together. The storyline and suspense kept me wanting to turn the page and suspense. The characters were unique and well developed. I strongly recommend this book and leave ok forward to Mr. Burton's other books.
