5 stars for the romance. A believable instalove romance with just enough of a helping hand from destiny to make that instant bond plausible.3 stars for the greater mystery in the story. I was expecting more from it. A great revelation, not an ancient Pict dating app.Edited to remind authors that'anus' has no place in romance. The word, not the body part.

Nevada & Scotland Unite! One thing I have come to discover about Erin O'Quinn is that she is a master (mistress?) of throwing together masculine gay men from different backgrounds and/or countries and creating stories that are borderline logical but emphatic and mesmerizing adventures and romances because she is such a terrific writer. She bowled me over with The Gaslight Mysteries series set in 1920s Ireland and took me in with The Chase, set in contemporary Nevada ranch country, and damn if [...]

Cowboys and Kilts was not what I was expecting. I read a brief excerpt and this line got my attention, “What filled him was a fucking Lock Ness monster, seeking the bottom, then resurfacing until the sides of his tunnel vibrated in frantic lust and pain.” From this line, I had to read this book. Also men in kilts are fucking HOT! I thought it was going to be a trashy, sex filled story, but what I got was totally different and unexpected. What I got was an ethereal love story between two men [...]

Nicknamed ‘Cowboy’ for the boots and hat he favors Hugh MacPherson has worked at UNLV as an assistant track coach for the past five years. An itch that couldn’t be scratched has grabbed hold, so during a semester break in school Hugh books a tour to the land of his ancestors in Scotland.A small time forgotten castle is home to Laird Graeme Guthrie. The significance of his home are the Pictish standing stones within the castle grounds. Periodically Graeme allows a group of tourist to invade [...]

Erin O'Quin delivers quite a punch in this short story. First I have to say I love the way she describes things throughout the story, it made me feel as if I was there seeing the beauty of the land the characters were in, it was magnificent. As a reader, normally I'm not into descriptions very much, as I tend to get bored, but the author pulled off the perfect balance for me. Second, the characters, Hugh and Graeme, were perfect for each other. I especially loved the shyness of Graeme the most, [...]

Very unusual story. Strange mix of mythology and superstition and modern life on bus tours. This story has to win the prize for the strangest analogy for sex that I've EVER read: "What filled him was a fucking Loch Ness monster, seeking the bottom, then resurfacing, until the sides of his tunnel vibrated in frantic lust and pain. Hugh pushed his ass at the monster, attacking it, mutely crying for more." I'm not kidding. I had to re-read it several times and then ended up cracking up.Favorite Quot [...]

Quite liked this, but I really wish it was longer. I'd be very happy spending a full book with these characters. Or more!Notes Score: 1Favorite quote:If he hadn't been an athlete himself, and sure of his feet, he knew he'd have tripped and ended up on his own butt in the middle of the street. This book had so many great elements. A man in a kilt. Ancient legends. A cowboy. An ancient castle. A man in a kilt (when involving kilts, it needs to be said twice). But oh how I wish it had been novel length. Graeme is such a deep and beautiful character but his story was rushed as were the legends that brought him and Hugh together. Sex was hot, but this could have been so much more. PS A man in a kilt.

Very strange and unusual story. I'm truly not sure how to even describe what I felt about this book. I'm not a big fan of mythology and ancestory so this book was a little like a reading lesson for school with some hot sex thrown in, lol.

What a book!Erin weaves a tale with a hot Scotsman and a cowboy. Loved the chemistry between them. Fate and discovery brought them together.
