"Flat-track Bullies by Balaji Venkataramanan is the kind of book that any tween will readily identify with and thoroughly enjoy. Most children at that age go through pressures at home, school and everywhere else. So how do you deal with it? No, it is not a do-it-yourself guide to teach you that. It is an utterly funny take on the entirely real issues faced at this age and beyond. One thing is for sure - you will not look at fruits the same way after reading this!"I am honored to be one of the fir [...]

This is the vacation diary of a 11-year old boy, Ravi Venkatesan, living in Chennai. Ravi, in his own words, does two types of things. One,those that make him happy and two, those that make his mom happy.Such an obedient Ravi sets goals for his summer vacation, which include items that his mother will definitely not approve of.What starts out as another diary with lots of explanations, surprisingly gathers momentum and builds into a suspense-filled climax and the final denouement is made by the [...]

Flat track bullies is a very well written book and the story keeps you hooked till the end. It is the story of an 11 year old boy, Ravi and his adventures. We are reminded of how everyone is under constant pressure not because they want themselves to b [...]

What I liked about the book was that it had a genuine voice and a particular local voice which is not found in children's fiction in India. When someone else read it out it appeared funny but otherwise I didn't find it very funny. There were some flashes of genuine humour that I enjoyed. Ravi is very real. I can imagine him living in Chennai. In this, the writer has been very successful. There were instances when I felt that Ravi was an adult and not a child.
