      I usually thoroughly enjoy Edward Charles, but this one didn't quite hit the spot. In a nutshell, it was depressing. Everyone seemed angry and sad all the time, and the brief moments of relief and suspense were few and far between. Storyline was actually very good. Maybe it was one book too many in the series, since characters seemed tired to me?I will keep reading Edward Charles, because the Medici books look fascinating, but if you are starting with him as an author, make In the Shadow of Lady [...]
