YAY! First review! :) Okay, since 1) I read the ARC of the book, and it most likely will change, and 2) I don't want to spoil it for anyone, I'm going to keep it short and sweet! (well, try to keep it short, anyway)I just finished Firebrand and let me tell you, I am shaking from the excitement! Wow! This book left me jumpy, and breathless. It's just so exciting! Now, I usually don't enjoy sequels of books, but Firebrand was perfect. Right at the beginning, I was hooked to the excitement and actio [...]

This book blew my mind off. It's better than the first one. [Spoilers removed] Can't wait to read the next one!

The previous book in this series, Elemental, was the first book I reviewed on my blog. It’s kind of ironic to think that Firebrand is the first physical ARC I’ve received from a publisher as well. Coincidence, I think not? Even though I had other books on the go, I couldn’t stop myself from picking up this book and devouring it in one day. I don’t know if it was because of the brevity of the novel or because of my pure excitement, but I flew through it, barely pausing my daily routine to [...]

So going in to this book, I was expecting more of a MG level novel – I’m not sure why exactly but somehow I was expecting more of a younger audience. I’m so glad I was wrong though because this book is definitely in the YG category and it is surprisingly good. What I liked about this book:Unique plot and setting – the fact that this was a dystopian society and somehow a small group of people with elemental powers have survived on an island while everyone else seemed to be trapped on boats [...]

"Firebrand" is the fast-paced sequel to "Elemental" which unfolds at Fort Sumter where Thomas, his friends and the Guardians seek sanctuary after their escape from Roanoke Island. What they will find is disturbing as they grapple with lies, threats and a dangerous secret that could bring death to them all. This is a dystopian story filled with non-stop action, thrills and adventure with a dash of romance and mystery. Using Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbour, South Carolina as a backdrop for the s [...]

This book was awesome! Good Job to the writer Antony John for making an extraordinary sequel. I absolutely loved Elemental but this sequel knocked my socks off. I loved Thomas and Rose in this book, their relationship transformed a lot from the first book to the sequel. A LOT. They are so cute together and I loved all of their scenes. I was so intrigued in the beginning, that it actually picked up exactly where it left off from Elemental. They were sailing away from Roanoke away from the pirates [...]

If I were to write a letter to this author about this novel, I would say.Dear Mr. JohnBefore reading your book i had never read a book in this series but the cover look interesting which made me want to read it. After reading a description of what the book over, it had gain my interest . Although when i first started reading, it was very confusing as i did not know this book was part of a series and there was not much information about what happen previously at the start of the book. But as i ke [...]

In a future post-apocalyptic world, Thomas and his friends have succeeded in saving their parents, the Guardians, from invading pirates. However, the pirates hold Roanoke Island. Thomas's group has commandeered the pirates’ ship. When the use of his power allows him to hear a radio message calling for refugees to come to Fort Sumter, Thomas and the group decide to head there. Fort Sumter will reveal answers to the questions that have plagued Thomas and his friends. Such as what power do the pi [...]

Thomas and the rest of the Elementals are forced to leave Roanoke Island now that the pirates have it overrun. They sail to a new community, determined to make a new life. But they soon find that the further away they get from Skeleton Island, the less their powers work. That's the least of their problems though, when they realize that this town has some secrets. Powerful, dangerous secrets that really should've stayed hidden. I give this book 3/5 stars because I felt it just wasn't as good as t [...]

OMG! as good as the first one! Thank you John for not dissapointing me.You know how you read a book and then the next in the series is kind of just okay? Well, Firebrand wasn't okay, it was perfect. This second book kept the same just-about-right pace of the first one.I would have liked a cast of characters just so I could had remembered who was who, but John did a great job reminding us of who each character was in the previous book without being repetitive. The action was paced as the first one [...]

Firebrand is the second book in this elemental series. However if you start this series with this second book you can still understand what is going on and happened in the previous book. In this book you are thrown into a post apocalyptic world and certain people can control certain parts of nature around them. You jumped straight into the story with action, but as you read on the story became more clear and told about what had happened to the characters in the previous book. Overall I would giv [...]

I really liked this book! It has been awhile since I read Elemental, but I caught on after a while. The story really drew me in and it was amazing!!Thomas is still trying to figure every thing out. His element, his family, the secrets the Guardians hid from them, the Solution. But nothing is what it seems. Is it ever? When they find a settlement, it seems to be thriving and it appears that it might be the haven they have been looking for, but there are sinister secrets, even here. The oh so perfe [...]

The story picks up right where Elemental left off and again ends on a cliffhanger. The threat of contracting plague from rats takes center stage in this book, and the elements play a slightly lesser role. I admire how Antony John can write stories that are fast-paced without sacrificing character development. I also thought he effectively depicted the subtle threat always in the air in the seemingly peaceful colony that Thomas and co. join for awhile. I think Alice is still my favorite character [...]

Well this book was indeed better than the first in my opinionch more adventure and revelations which indeed made the story interestingever, I rate it as the same as the first for even though I enjoyed it much more, was just expecting much more from the "Elementals" We need more epic battle scenes and development of elements and less time sailing and worrying about ratshopefully the last book in the series would tie up loose ends and everything would make sense :) Looking forward to Renegade!

I received this book from the author for a honest review as a first reads bookI very much enjoyed this book. It was quite adventurous. From page to page things just happened that literally make you want to yell "Noooo". It also picked up were it was left off from the first one. I recommend this book 100 percent, and I thank the author for sending this book to me so I have the opportunity to melt in the enjoyment of his book. This book is an adventurous action packed paranormal book and its gooooo [...]

This book was a lot more exciting than the first. The action started right at the beginning and it kept a good pace through the book. The love triangle I complained about in the first book almost entirely disappears in this one, which I'm happy about. (view spoiler)[ The new colony they arrived at was obviously suspicious from the start, but I still liked the twist at the end and how it was written. I'm glad some questions from the last book were answered and there are some new, interesting myst [...]

This book is an interesting book to read because it has suspense and intense adventures. The book also shows a hint of romance. In this sequel to the dystopian fantasy-adventure ELEMENTAL, the stakes are life or death and nothing is normal as it appears to be.Thomas (main character) and his friends had discovered that they have "elements," a power that was past down from their family. They commandeered a pirates' ship that was at Roanoke Island, and sailed it to a refugee camp called Fort Sumter [...]

    18. Suzana

It took me a minute or two to get into it. The beginning felt slow for some reason, but finally picked up. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. It is definitely an exciting series. I thought about the importance of being yourself. The differences in us all are what make life interesting and fun. We shouldn't change who we are for anyone, to fit in. We should never hide our talents. We were given them for a reason. They are to be shared. If we don't, we will lose them.

    19. April

The adventure continues. Thomas brings the colony to Fort Sumter where there is another colony. The people seem to welcome them in, but do they really?Did Dare really die in the first book. What does it mean for Griffin to be the solution?Frustratingly, this second book really only generates more questions. There are few answers. It is a well told story. I would have given it four stars if not for the frustration of having the story only add more variables.

    20. Diana

I was a bit surprised that there was a cliffhanger . I mean, don't pretend you don't have dozens of questions swarming in your head. Some of the most popular ones areIs Griffin the solution? Will Thomas kill Dare? What is Nyla's talent? Will Rose and Thomas end up together? Will Griffon and Nyla survive?I hope Antony gives us an answer cause I'm dying to know about it. I really want to read Renegade.

This book in the series was much better than the first one. I love the introduction of Nyla and Jerren. The relationship between Nyla and Griffin is wonderful. It's hard to believe that the pirates were something different before the plague as well. I guess at points in this series I forgot that there was a previous world and life.

    23. Kim

This was a interesting book. Thomas and his friends commandeered a pirates' ship but the pirates still hold fast to Roanke Island. Thomas using his newly discovered element. Thomas overheard a radio message that all refugee were take over at Fort Sumnter. Alice element is fire. I believe I can channel energy.

    24. Wren

This is interesting. Rose and Thom's romance is very interesting. I don't really know much about the plot. I don't remember too much about the first book. I think this book is quite amazing. It was interesting.

    25. Chin-Ning Chong

Interesting. It's nice to find out how certain things happened and why they happened the way they did. It's sort of slow paced and kind of boring at times, but the concept is still interesting to think of.

    26. Michelle
