This book is a closely argued and densely written legal history--law as it pertains to the experience of governance--of England in the long 18th century (1688-1832). The audience for this book is tiny; for that audience, it is excellent. Its cogent argument is well-supported and deeply persuasive. For anybody outside the purely scholarly audience, I would suggest giving it a miss.
